What is Movlan Player?

Movlan Player is the player component of the Movlan media center. The player software runs in the background on a computer connected to a display and waits for commands from the Movlan server.

Each player is remote controlled by the user thru the server using a web browser. For example if your want to view a movie in the living room you select the player located in the living room on the web page and then select the movie to be played. All player functions, such as pausing or stoping the movie, is also controlled thru the web interface.


What are the requirements for running the player?

The current version only supports Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). Later versions will support Linux and Windows XP.


Which port is used by the player to listen for server commands?

14500


Can I set the player to listen on another port?

No, not the current version but later versions will have this function.


How do I remove the player from my computer?

  1. Open a Terminal window.
  2. Type the following at the command prompt and press enter.
    /usr/local/movlan/0.1.0/uninstall
  3. Enter administrator password
